"We all knew there was just one way to improve our odds for survival: train, train, train. Sometimes, if your training is properly intense, it will kill you. More often--much, much more often--it will save your life." -Richard Marcinko
Ok, so Oral Commentaries MAY not be an actual cause of death. BUT...practicing them might make your life THIS YEAR IN IB a whole lot easier! Your mission, if you choose to accept it: -Select an annotation passage that has a particular appeal to you. If it doesn't have appeal...don't choose it! -Go through that passage and identify any literary elements missed, your context, purpose, etc. -Consider your organizational principle: STOP BAD FIT etc. (If you need help, read back over your Oral Commentary Fun packet). -Go into garageband and record your first oral commentary. Feel free to edit, re-record, etc until you are comfortable with the end product.
Simply click on your name tab on the left side to get to your personal page. Click on the picture icon at the top (it says "insert images and files.") Select your garageband file (converted to an mp3 or m4a of course), and upload! Please make sure that in your passage or in the title of your garageband recording, you indicate who you are and what passage you chose for comment.
Oral Commentary Rubric (practice): Student addresses context Student addresses authorial purpose Student addresses literary terms Student has organizational principle Student speaks for at least ten minutes File is uploaded approriately and on time Passage value = __/20 pts.
**For Midterm: Oral commentary will be graded using the IB rubric, and the conversion chart used last year. If you fail to remember the conversion chart, please see Ms. Henry's eboard and go to the tab "midterm." We will be using the exact same conversion chart to create cohesion between the two courses.
